Ma’an Development Area (MDA)

Location Readiness for Business Opportunity
Ma’s is one of the closest cities to Aqaba 110 km, 125 km to Saudi Arabia, 200 km to Amman, and 400 to Iraq).

Direct access to specialized cargo highway that directly connects Jordan to both Saudi Arabia and Iraq. 

An area rich with natural resources in commercial quantities from silica (high quality), kaolin, zeolite, clay and many others.

A local population of 28,000.

Presence of a reputable King Hussein Bin Talal University with more than 7000 students (2007).

MDA spans over 8.75 km² in the vicinity of the city of Ma’an and is comprised of  four clusters:

Skill Development Center: a specialized skill development center  in partnership with King Hussein Bin Talal University.

Residential Community.


Industrial Park: A 750,000 square meters of fully functional and equipped Industrial park; a residential community
Residential Community:
Hajj Oasis: 20 hectares of land.

MDC is looking for a strategic partner to complete the development and management of the 4 clusters within for the coming 20 years.

Target industries include: Manufacturing of building and construction materials; exploitation of renewable (solar and wind) energy potential and R&D center;  minerals and marketing related manufacturing industries;  reputable university for joint programs with King Hussein Bin Talal University to enhance knowledge and capabilities in the fields of manufacturing, sciences, engineering and renewable energies.

 

To further establish Jordan as a premium investment destination and to capitalize on the regional economic growth and Ma’an’s unlimited potential, the Ma’ an Development Area (MDA) was set up in the South of Jordan, with the goal of serving as regional hub for industrial activity propelled by its competitive labor force and favorable legal, regulatory and fiscal framework.

MDA is managed and promoted by the Ma’an Development Company (MDC), a partnership between the South Company for Construction and Development (SCCD), the Jordan Industrial Estate Corporation and Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.

Consisting of four clusters, including an Skill Development Center, Industrial Park, a Residential Community, and Hajj Oasis.

The four MDA clusters have been conceived in a way to create synergy between them and leverage the unique attributes of each, while being tailored to the needs of local and regional markets, rendering MDA an all- inclusive and unique area offering some of the region’s most advantageous incentives to investors.

MDA is expected to create over 20,000 job opportunities within the next 15 years.

 

Clusters

Skill Development Center

Location: East of downtown Ma'an in close proximity to the Industrial Park.
Size: 5 Hectars. 
Components: Vocational Training, dormitory and catering facilities.

Hajj Oasis
It's a neceassary checpoint to pilgrims going by to Hajj and Umrah from around the region, 1.5 million pilgrims will pass through Hajj City a year.

Location: South of the Industial cluster, siutated on the road leading to Saudi Arabia. 
Size: 20 Hectars.
Components: Pilgrim's Accomodation (Hotel and tents), Grand Mosque, Restraunts, Hajj and Umrah boutiques, parking and spaces, other Hajj and Umrah related services.

Residential Community

Location: 8 km north of downtown Ma'an and to the west of King Hussein Univesity.
Size: 100 Hectars.
Components: Residential villas and apartments, student dorimitories, hotel, shops, and restraunts; police station, administration, schools, hospital, post office and a pertrol station; water and power, and telecommunication utlitiles; parks and playground areas; as well as many community service facilities.
