H.R.H. Prince Zeid Ra’ad Zeid Al Hussein |
Jordan Ambassador to U.S. |
| Prince Zeid is Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States and non-resident Ambassador to Mexico. He was previously the kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; a post he held six and a half years (2000-2007). From 1996-2000, he was Jordan’s Deputy Permanent Representative at the UN, with the rank of Ambassador. An expert in the field of international justice, Prince Zeid played a central role in the establishment of the International Criminal Court. In September 2002, Prince Zeid was elected the first president of the governing body of the International Criminal Court, at a time when the Court was only a plan on paper. Prince Zeid also served as a political affairs officer in UNPROFOR in the former Yugoslavia from February 1994 to February 1996, and, having worked intimately with peacekeeping issues for over the last decade, his knowledge of peacekeeping is extensive.
Prince Zeid holds a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from Cambridge (Christ’s College). In 1989, he also received his commission as an officer in the Jordanian desert police (the successor to the Arab Legion) and saw service with them until 1994. |

H.E. Eng. Amer Hadidi |
Minister of Industry and Trade |

Amer Hadidi has served as an incumbent Minister of Industry and
Trade in two consecutive governments. Alongside his position as
Minister he also holds the position of Chairman of the Board of
Directors of many satellite institutions including Jordan Investment
Board, Insurance Commission and the Jordan Enterprise Development
Corporation. Minister Hadidi’s Ministry’s mandate is to formulate an
economic policy, support national industries and increase their
competitiveness, increase Jordanian exports and opening new markets,
attract foreign investments, integrate Jordan with the world economy
and foster economic growth. Hadidi, is a strong believer in the important role of the private sector in economic growth, as a mantra of his ministerial administration he developed a mandate promoting public- private sector partnership interactions on multiple levels. He formed the Economic Consultative Council, in which private sector stakeholders shape policy and strategy in partnership with the Ministry. This participatory approach has led to an increase in Jordan’s competitiveness and international market integration, through management of resources, enhancement of knowledge economies as drivers of sustainable and real economic growth. This also led to the high levels of inward FDI, new market entrances and increased overall trade levels enjoyed by the Jordanian economy today.
Amer Hadidi also served as a Secretary General of the Ministry of
Transport, during which he set the strategy for the Transportation
Sector in the Kingdom, and supervised its implementation. He was
also the Executive Director of the Public Sector Reform
Administration., in charge of the implementation of the Public
Sector Reform Program and was also part of the team that worked on
the expansion of Jordan’s Queen Alia International airport through a
public private partnership including French partners such as Aero
ports de Paris. Prior to that, Hadidi headed the Industrial
Development Directorate at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and
served as a senior economic advisor to the Minister of Industry and
Trade. He played a leading role in the negotiations of many free
trade agreements that Jordan signed with many countries such as:
Singapore, Turkey, Aghadeer (Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco) and Canada.
Holder of a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Bridgeportin Connecticut, USA, Hadidi worked in many technical
assistance and development programs that aim to support the SME’s
including the Industrial Development Bank. Minister Hadidi’s
technical experience, negotiation style and consensus reforms
continue to push forward Jordan’s economic modernization and
integration into the global market through Public-Private sector
partnership.. |

H.E. Mr. Imad Fakhoury |
Minister of Public Sector Development & Mega-Projects |
| H.E. Imad Fakhoury, is the Minister of State for Mega
Projects and also the Minister of Public Sector Development since
14/12/2009. Prior to that, he was CEO of the Aqaba Development
Corporation (ADC) and has held this position since December 2005. He
is currently also the Deputy Chairman of the Board and prior to Jan.
2008 & since 2004 he also held the position of Chairman of the Board
for ADC, and prior to assuming leadership at ADC and from January
2004 to December 2005, H.E. Mr. Fakhoury was the Deputy Chief
Commissioner and Commissioner for Investment and Economic
Development, Aqaba Special Economic Zone, a position he also held
from 2000-2003. In 2003, he served as Chief of Staff to His Majesty
King Abdullah II for Planning and Programming, Royal Hashemite
Court. H.E. Mr. Fakhoury was President and COO of the Century
Investment Group from 1999-2000 and from 1995-1999 served as the
Director of Research and Economic Affairs and the Economic Advisor
on the Peace Process for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also
held position of Regional Program and Policy Manager at Regional
Bureau for Arab States at United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
from 1992 to 1995. H.E. Mr. Fakhoury received his BSc in
Biomedical Engineering and his MSc in Engineering Management from
Case Western Reserve University. He has a Masters in Public Policy (MPP)
from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University
(1990-1992) and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern
University (1996-1998). In 2002, he was awarded the Eisenhower
Fellowship. H.E. Mr. Fakhoury is a board member of many prestigious
organizations and national committees in Jordan. He also held
Chairmanship position or board membership of several strategic PPP
companies in Aqaba.
In October of 2008, he was awarded Al Hussein Medal of the Second
Order by His Majesty King Abdullah II in recognition of his
dedicated efforts towards economic development and investment
attraction. |

H.E. Marwan Juma |
Minister of Information and Communication Technology |
| Marwan Juma is the Minister of Information and
Communications Technology, and previously Chief Executive Officer of
Xpress Telecommunications, one of Jordan’s leading mobile operators
and the first Arab company to introduce the iDEN technology in the
region which combines the abilities of ordinary mobile phones with
the instantaneous Direct Connect (walkie-talkie) service. Juma is
also the founder and Chairman of Sama for Integrated Systems, better
known as dot.jo, one of the country’s leading web development
houses.
Juma held prominent positions in the past as Chief Executive
Officer of Batelco Jordan, the country’s second fixed line operator
and the leading data communication provider. In addition, Marwan was
the Chairman of the local chapter of the Young Arab Leaders
Organization, the region’s leading youth NGO. He also serves on
several prominent boards including the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for
Human Development, the Jordan Education Initiative, the King
Abdullah Award for Excellence in Government Performance and
Transparency and the Jordan Commercial Bank. Juma served on the
“National Agenda’s” Royal Steering Committee entrusted with
developing the country’s strategy for the coming ten years.
Marwan Juma was also reelected in mid 2009 as the Chairman of
INTAJ, Jordan’s Information Technology Association but resigned
following his appointment as Minister of Information and
Communications Technology in late 2009. He is a founding contributor
to Jordan’s national initiative for establishing Jordan’s IT
Industry, known as the “REACH Initiative”. The REACH Initiative is a
five-year action plan to advance Jordan’s nascent IT sector, and
strengthen its position to compete in local, regional, and global
markets.
Holder of a Master in Management degree from North Carolina State
University in the United States, and two Bachelor degrees in
Business Management and Economics, Marwan has been an active player
in Jordan’s Information Technology sector since 1990. Upon
completing his studies, he joined Ideal Group, (the Apple Computer
and Compaq distributor in Jordan), and moved up the ranks to become
Vice President. In 1995, he took over as the General Manager of
NETS, Jordan’s first e-mail and second Internet Service Provider.
Six years later, NETS, and a second data provider, Firstnet, and
Bahrain Telecom, a regional leading telecom provider completed the
first IT merger in Jordan and formed Batelco Jordan.
An outspoken character, Marwan has lobbied long and hard towards
the establishment of a world-class telecom infrastructure in Jordan,
and has been an ardent supporter for increased private-public
partnerships to further enhance and accelerate the country’s
modernization and economic development.

H.E Eng. Khaled Irani is the minister of Energy and Mineral
Resources since 14/12/2009.; prior to that he was the Minister of
Environment from 7/4/2005 until 09/12/2009. H.E was the director
General for the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN)
and has held this position for 9 years. He was also the manger of
the protected Area department from 1986 until 1989, in parallel to
his position during that time he was a Research Assistant at Jordan
University.
H.E is a Member of the international Environmental Committee, the
Royal Energy Committee and the Zaiyed Future Energy Price.
H.E Khaled Irani, received his B.Sc in Soils from the
Jordan University and his MSc in Arid Land use from the same
University, He also has a degree in national parks management from
New Mexico University.

| Nasser Sunnaa is the Chief Executive Officer of the Jordan Investment Board; a position that he has held since March 2010. The Jordan Investment Board (JIB) is the institution entrusted by the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to attract foreign direct investments and enhance domestic investments in order to achieve economic prosperity in the Kingdom. Mr. Sunnaa sits on the board of Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation, Greater Amman Municipality, and Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation.
Prior to joining JIB, Mr. Sunnaa has founded, partnered in, and ran a number of successful companies in various sectors; IT, Telecom, retail, and commercial real estate development; of which are, EIRAD (Est. Amman 2007), Hidhab Amman (Est. Amman 2006), Synapse (Est. Dubai 2005), and Advanced Technologies ( Est. Dubai 2002). Mr. Sunnaa also held several senior executive positions with leading national and multinational IT companies such as Silicon Graphics Inc. (U.S.A.), Electronic Concepts (Saudi Arabia), Intershop Communications (Germany), and Ideal Dimensions (Jordan), where he headed projects in various fields such as Defense, Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Entertainment, and Research and Development, for the Middle East region.

Imad Malhas enjoys a strong technical background in the field of
information technology and is considered a pioneer in software
development in the Middle East for over two-decades. He holds a
B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin in
Milwaukee, USA in 1984. Mr. Malhas began his professional career
in 1984 where he held IT managerial positions for several Jordanian
establishments. At the age of 25, he became the Technical Advisor to
the Director of Public Security in Jordan between (1988-1992) on the
national security project known as Command and Control (C3I). He
later founded IdealSoft and led a team of professionals to produce
successful large-scale software solutions catering for Hospital
Management and Health Insurance Administration throughout the
region. He was one of the founders of National Health Insurance
Administration Co. in 1999, the first company to use smart cards for
health claims adjudication in the region.
Mr. Malhas founded IrisGuard Inc. (www.irisguard.com) in 2001
where he remains today as it CEO. IrisGuard Inc. is considered a
world-leader in the field of Iris Recognition Technology; under his
leadership, IrisGuard is credited to successfully taking Iris
recognition from the uncertainties of labs and theories to the
realities of the world. With offices in the London, Geneva, Dubai
and Amman, IrisGuard Inc. has customers in North America, Europe,
the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. Mr. Malhas pioneered
the concept of employing Iris recognition to secure mass-transit
national borders prior to September 11th 2001 in the UAE. More
recently, he lead IrisGuard successful deployment of the world’s
first iris implementation at banks and ATM machines where customers
use only their iris to draw money from their account (Cairo Amman
Bank – Jordan.)
Mr. Malhas is the principle designer of the Iris Farm
Architecture – IFA® that revolutionized the process of national Iris
recognition solutions. His close collaboration with Professor John
Daugman of Cambridge University - the inventor of Iris Recognition
technology – and similarly distinguished world-renowned professors
and scientists in the field of optical and pattern recognition
resulted in the world’s most accurate and most scalable Iris
architecture; designed to provide real-time response to iris
searching and enrolments in projects involving millions of records
at national borders or thousands of ATM machines and Internet Home
Banking users; the architecture continued development included
the release of the world’s first Iris-enabled web interface in 2005.
The UAE Iris Expellee Tracking System, deployed in UAE in 2001 is
not only the first such project but also remains the largest and
most successful Iris deployment in the world.
With his diligent involvement, IrisGuard Inc. manufactures
quality Iris cameras out of its UK Laboratories that are well
received throughout the world. The IG-H100® camera system has
rapidly captured accurate iris images of more than 18 million people
from 200 nationalities; it has been independently evaluated by the
International Biometric Group – IBG (New York) and found to be the
world’s most accurate and fastest Iris camera on the market today.
The recent addition include the IG-AD100® dual-eye camera system
that produces pristine images of both irises simultaneously. More
cameras are planned to suite the various user requirements around

| Eng. Mohamed Saqer was appointed the chief
commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority in 2010.
In 2008, Eng. Saqer launched Extensya, a leading provider of BPO in
the region, and he was it’s chairman. And he was also a co-founder
and the chairman, of Shira for Real Estate Development and
Investments, which is a public shareholding company incorporated in
2006.
In 2003, Eng. Saqer held the position of CEO at Fastlink,
recently Zain Jordan, where he led the company and positioned it as
the leading mobile service provider in Jordan with a regional
reputation of excellence. Under his leadership and with his
strategic insight the company's market share reached 70%, its
subscriber's base increased from 600.000 to 2 million and its
profits witnessed an increase of 500%.
Prior to this and in 1998, Eng. Saqer was the Vice-President and
Head of the Technical Department at LebanCel1. With his technical
and managerial experience, he was appointed as International
Operations Manager for installing GSM networks in Iran and Armenia.
Between 1994 and 1998 Eng. Saqer worked as Business Development
Manager for Motorola CIG in Lebanon, where he was responsible for
the GSM unit with a remit of responsibilities in Jordan, Palestine
and Syria.
Previously, Eng. Saqer held a senior position of Head of
Technical Department at Safeer Integrated Systems, a Motorola agent
in the UAE. In 1982 he worked at UAE's Itisalat Telecommunications
Company where he held several technical and managerial positions.
Eng. Saqer is a M.Sc holder in Telecommunications Engineering.

Mr. Karim Kawar is a Serial entrepreneur, former diplomat and angel
investor. He is also the Chairman of Kawar Energy and IrisGuard. He
Served as Jordan’s Ambassador to the US 2002-2007; he is currently
leading the EDAMA Initiative: Jordan’s blueprint for a green
economy. Mr. Kawar was appointed by Royal Decree to the Board of
Trustees of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, he was
previously appointed to the Economic Consultative Council by His
Majesty King Abdullah II. He is the founder of ten companies in the
field of information and communication technologies (ICT). He is the
architect of the REACH Initiative, Jordan’s blueprint for a
knowledge economy, the founder and Chairman of the Information
Technology Association of Jordan and the former president of the
Jordan Computer Society.
Mr. Kawar is a founding member of several business associations and
NGOs, including AmCham and the Jordan Intellectual Property
Association, he is a member of the Advisory Board of Talal Abu
Ghazaleh College for Business and a member of the Boards of Trustees
of Madaba University as well.
He’s a principal shareholder and advisor to Optimiza and serves as a
member of the board of two additional Jordanian public shareholding
companies, namely the Jordan Ahli Bank and the Jordan Wood
Industries Company (JWICO).
Mr. Karim Kuwar is currently a Member of the following

Mr. Kappaz is the founder Chairman and CEO of the K&M Group of
Companies a premier energy group dedicated to bringing safe, clear
and reliable electricity around the world. The K&M group includes
K&M International Power Group,K&M Engineering and Consulting
Corporation (K&M) and K&M Global Construction Services LLC. Founded
in 1986 the K&M Group is an internationally recognized leader in
development, finance ownership, and operation of power stations. The
Group also performs engineering, construction, development, and
project finance, primarily in the energy, telecommunications, and
environmental sectors. For over a decade K&M has been a technical,
financial and legal advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Minerals
Resources on the first and second private power stations in Jordan:
the Amman East Power Stations currently in construction and the Al-Qatrana
plant in negotiations with the investors. Recently K&M was honored
with an award from National Electric Power Corporation (NEPCO) to
provide similar services of the third private power station in
Jordan. The three projects represent a private sector investment of
nearly a billion dollars Prior to founding K&M, Mr. Kappaz was Vice
President and General Manager of Bechtel Power International
Operations.
Mr. Kappaz holds a bachelor of science in industrial engineering
and operations research from Polytechnic Institute of New York and a
master’s in business administration from Golden Gate University in
San Francisco, California. He has also completed post-graduate work
at Stanford University and The Wharton School, University of

Samer Zureikat is leading the development of the JOAN1 project, a
100MW Solar Thermal Power Plant in Ma’an, Jordan. Samer has over 14
years of experience working in highly-regulated environments
throughout the Middle East and North Africa. In 1995, he co-founded
a chemical manufacturing company in his native Jordan, where he
worked for 11 years. In 2006, Samer moved to Germany, where he
worked as a Venture Partner with a Swiss-based Venture Capital fund
focused on the European Cleantech sector. In March of 2008, he
launched MENA Cleantech in order to develop renewable energy
projects in the Middle East and North Africa, with a particular
focus on Concentrating Solar Power. Samer earned his Bachelor of
Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the
University of Pennsylvania, USA. He speaks Arabic, English, French,
and German. |

Dr. Salah Mawajdeh is currently working as Corporate Vice President,
Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and General Manager of Arab Pharmaceutical
Manufacturing Company which is part of Hikma Plc.
Dr. Mawajdeh is a Medical Doctor and graduate of the Johns Hopkins
University where he completed his Master’s and Doctoral Degree in
the area of Health Policy and Management in 1988. He then started
his career in academia where he spent 14 years as professor of
Health Policy and Management at Jordan University of Science and
Technology. He has several published articles in international
scientific journal and books, and also has been a member in the
Jordan Medical Council Committees for several years.
Dr. Mawajdeh worked with several United Nations agencies and
international NGOs. His research interests led him to also work as a
regional coordinator of the Reproductive Health Working Group,
housed in the Population Council, Cairo, Egypt.
In 2003, Dr. Mawajdeh was entrusted with the establishment of the
Jordan Food and Drug Administration where he was the general manager
for four years. He then became CEO of the International
Pharmaceutical Research Center which is FDA approved and the leading
CRO in Jordan.
In 2007 he joined the Jordanian Government as Minister of Health and
in April of 2009 he joined Hikma. |

Dr. Khleif earned his M.D. from the University of Jordan in Amman in
1986. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Medical
College of Ohio in 1990 and then joined the NCI as a medical
oncology fellow. Currently, Dr. Khleif is head of the Cancer Vaccine
Section, Vaccine Branch at the NCI; he also serves as a Special
Assistant to the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration,
leading the Critical Path Initiative for oncology. He also holds an
adjunct academic appointment with the Medicine Department of the
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Dr. Khleif serves on many local, national, and international
committees and as a cancer vaccine expert for a number of national
organizations. From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Khleif served as the Director
General and CEO of the King Hussein Cancer Center as part of an
agreement between the NCI and Jordan. During this time, Dr. Khleif
led the development of the only cancer center in the Middle East
into an internationally recognized comprehensive cancer center of
excellence. In 2007, Dr. Khleif was appointed the Director of the
King Hussein Institute for Biotechnology and Cancer. This
appointment was the result of a new agreement between the NCI and
Jordan to develop this new institute as a comprehensive cancer
center and biotechnology research hub.
Dr. Khleif's research focuses on integrating translational basic
laboratory research and clinical trials to understand the
interaction between tunor cells and the immune system and to develop
cancer vaccines. His laboratory's emphasis is on the preclinical
identification of potential new vaccine targets, the development of
improved and more effective methods for vaccine delivery, an
expanded understanding of the mechanism of immune response in
vaccinated patients, and the incorporation of these findings into
clinical trial development. His research has a special emphasis on
viral and cellular oncogene antigenic potentials. |

Mr. Matalka is Chief Executive Officer at the International
Pharmaceutical Research Center (IPRC). Prior to this, Mr. Matalka
served as a Senior Advisor also at IPRC, a leading regional full
service Contract Research Organization (CRO). He is also a founding
member of the newly established Clean Energy Company (CEC).
Mr. Matalka was appointed Director of the Economic Affairs
Directorate between 2006 and 2008 at the Office of His Majesty King
Abdullah II at the Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan. In this role,
Mr. Matalka was entrusted with several diverse and key portfolios,
which include but are not limited to water, energy, transport, ICT,
healthcare, environment, labor, fiscal and monitory policies, trade
and investments. During his tenure, Mr. Matalka advised the Royal
Court on key socio-economic issues which are paramount to the
economic development and advancement of Jordan. During his time at
the Royal Court, Mr. Matalka served as the rapporteur for the Royal
Commissions on energy and water.
Between 2003 and 2006, he served as Director of the Economic and
Commerce Bureau (ECB) at the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of
Jordan in Washington D.C. Established by Mr. Matalka, the ECB
capitalizes on the many facets of the Jordan-U.S. Free Trade
Agreement which include trade, investment and trade policy matters
between Jordan and the U.S. During his tenure, Mr. Matalka
established a trade and investment outreach program under the name
JOIN-US, (Jordan Overseas Investment Network U.S.) to foster and
promote Jordanian exports and attract U.S. investments to Jordan.
Prior to his appointment in Washington, and as of 1997, Mr. Matalka
served as Secretary General of the Jordanian Association of
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (JAPM), where he advised the
pharmaceutical industry on key domestic and international strategic
and development related issues, as well as healthcare matters. He
represented the industry on various committees such as the
Pharmaceutical Reforms Committee of the World Bank, the WTO
Membership Committee, the Jordan-U.S Free Trade Agreement Committee,
the Intellectual Property (IP) Committee, and the Trade Policy
Issues Committee.
He has participated in various regional and international fora on
Intellectual Property and presented several papers on the challenges
and opportunities facing the pharmaceutical industry in developing
countries.

development of Jordan by developing the pharmaceutical industry
infrastructure, as well as leading the Jordanian industry into
unconventional markets such as the European Union, which ultimately
resulted in registration and sales of Jordanian generics in such
markets. Moreover, Mr. Matalka participated in developing “Jordan
Vision 2020 “, an ambitious initiative that aims to achieve a clear
private sector-driven economic strategy to guide Jordan into the
21st century.
He also served as Marketing Manager for Glaxo Pharmaceuticals in the
Northern Arabia Region (Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Cyprus)
between 1988 and 1995. Mr. Matalka is licensed by the American Board
of Pharmacy and is a Member of the Licensing Executive Society
(LES).
He is a graduate of the Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord New
Hampshire with a Master of Law Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP)
and holds a B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which he earned at
Samford University’s School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Matalka was born in Amman, Jordan where he currently resides
with his wife Nadia and daughter Farah.

Randa S. Ayoubi is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rubicon –
a holding company specialized in the use of CGI Technology in
education and entertainment (info-tainment).
Randa is the Chair Person of the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic
Art, a graduate school in Aqaba Jordan empowered by the University
of Southern California and serves on the Royal Commission for
Education Reform in Jordan, established by a Royal decree, as well
as on the board of Trustees of the Children’s museum in Amman – the
first museum in the Middle East dedicated for children. Randa also
served on the board of trustees of the Amman Baccalaureate School,
the Jordanian Royal Film Commission, and is a founding member of the
International Women’s Forum – Jordan Chapter. She is a director on
the board of Netcorps Jordan, a global NGO that works with the youth
in underprivileged conditions to help them become “agents of Change”
in their own communities through the effective use of technology.
Randa is one of the founding members of the Information Technology
Association of Jordan (Int@j) and has served on its board as well as
Head of its Human Resources Development Committee for two
consecutive terms
Between 1999 and 2004 Randa had served on many developmental and
advisory committees, such as the Primary Education sub-committee of
His Majesty King Abdullah II Advisory Council, the REACH Advisory
Council commissioned by His Majesty King Abdullah II to design a
national framework for the advancement of technology in Jordan, as
well as the Advisory Committee on technology Policy established by
the (then) Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
More recently, Randa has served on the Investment Committee of the
Jordanian National Agenda.
Randa is extremely interested in the use of technology for the
dissemination of education and information within an entertaining
context. She has received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2000
from the Jordanian Young Entrepreneurs Association, as well as the
Regional Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003 from ITP
Publication. |
